All about Mrs. Kathy Moore
Hello! I am very excited for this year's GSRP class! This will be my fifth year of teaching preschool. I started teaching GSRP in Kalamazoo Public Schools in 1998 and taught there for four years. I then transferred to Washington Writer's Academy where I taught 1st grade for one year and then a 2nd/3rd grade split class for another year. I received my bachelor's degree in education and early childhood from Western Michigan University in 1998 and my Master's in education in 2004 from WMU.
In 2001, I married my best friend, Joel. He is the choir teacher for Three Rivers Jr/High School. In 2005, I stopped formally teaching when I had my first child, Joshua. I wanted to be a stay at home mom. I then had my other son Caleb in 2006 and my daughter, Natalie in 2008.
Although I have not had my own classroom since 2005, I have focused on education by teaching my own children in the early childhood years, substitute teaching, including long term subbing for kindergarten and 1st grade, and also taking educational classes to stay current and up to date with strategies. I have a passion for education! I want every child to have a desire to be a life long learner.
Besides teaching for Building Blocks Preschool's GSRP, I work for New Hope Assembly as the Administrative Assistant. I've worked part time for my church since 2005. I also teach youth Sunday School and sing on the worship team. I am also involved with my children's school, Hoppin Elementary where I am on the Leadership Team and I'm also the treasurer for the PTO. As one can see, I keep myself busy with my family, church and work. I wouldn't have it any other way!
